New hedgerows

Lincolnshire has lost many of its hedgerows and with them the wildlife, plant and animal species which they support.

Woodlands Farm is planting new hedgerows - the photo here shows a good thick hedge, typical of what the farm is trying to recreate.

Hedgerows provide homes for useful birds and beetles which help the organic farmer by eating crop pests like aphids.

Hedgerows also provide shelter for crops and livestock and are an important feature of the landscape.
