In the field called Well Pathfield, you will see strips of willow that have been planted to provide a habitat for predatory insects. The willow stems also provide a useful by-product as local crafts people harvest them for basket weaving.

Without chemical pesticides, the farm relies heavily on predatory insects. These insect predators (for example ladybird larvae) help the farmer by eating other insects (for example aphids) that feed on the vegetables.
