Meanwood Valley Urban Farm

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a city farm in the centre of Leeds. It was the first city farm to have a certified organic vegetable growing area (1987) and now grows a range of vegetables and plants which are sold in the farm shop.

The EpiCentre is a state of the art sustainable education centre on the farm. It has a turf roof, compost toilets and runs a range of educational activities.

» FRUIT OR ROOT

KS1 Science, Unit 1B, Growing plants

We obtain our food from many different parts of plants:

- The fruit of plants such as apples

- The roots of plants such as parsnips

- The leaves of plants such as spinach.

This trail leads you around the farm's vegetable patch. See some of the crops which are grown on the farm and see if you can tell what part of the plant they come from.
