When to go

The organic resource centre is open every day of the week.

It is an old farm building converted into a small visitor centre with displays and information.

Guided farm and conservation walks are available for groups by prior arrangement.

Accommodation is available at the organic resource centre for visitors who want to work on the farms.

The farms can also be used as a holiday base.

How to get there

  • By road: take the Longtown road out of Brampton (A6071). Cross the traffic light bridge and after Newtown, turn right at the signpost for Hethersgill and Roadhead. Go straight over crossroads at Hethersgill and after a mile, keep straight on where the main road bears right and follow signpost to Shankhill and Mallsburn. Turn right at Shankhill school crossroads (signed to Mallsburn and Baileyhead). After half a mile, turn left at T-junction (signed Roadhead), then immediately right (signed Low Luckens). Follow to the end of the small tarmac lane keeping left to the farm.
