Totem Pole

Totem pole

After following the sculpture trail through the woodland, you can find a totem pole in the field on the far side. Totem poles were traditionally made by the native Americans who recognised the place of humans alongside plants and other animals as part of the ‘eco-system’.

  • Totem poles featured many creatures from the natural and spiritual world of the native Americans. The one at Abbey Home Farm includes an eagle, snake and owl together with some more scary creatures! Why not try to visit the farm and see how many you can spot?

» QUOTATION:

"We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers...

"Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web he does to himself."

Chief Seattle 1855
